Seriously going to have to think about getting a wee generator. I can manage the dark with a candle or two, but how will I manage without my hairdryer?

In terms of Watts or KVA in generator terms hair dyers can be greedy little buggers, if you're serious make sure your wee one is big enough

Are they any good? I'd always imagined them to be comparable to the older hand driers in public toilets.. makes the right noise but you feel your life wasting away the time they take

I don't use hairdriers, but Herself doesn't seem to take that much longer with the 12V then the one at home...... She does wear a shortish style though, so no idea how well it'd work on long flowing locks.

This is the one we have, more 'normal' looking ones are available.

Our hairdryers are efficient, but probably do guzzle. I've actually been thinking about this and, as a female who washes and styles her hair every danged morning , I'm going to get myself some rollers . In SHTF situation, my normal inverted bob with a wee bit of a fringe would be stuck in a pony tail with a roller in the fringe and in the ponytail and brushed out in the morning. Voila! Cuts out the hairdryer and straighteners, which I only use to give a wee bit of polish. It might not be the best hairstyle, but I think if most people are worrying about what to eat or how to stay warm, etc, hairstyles will be the least of their worries. Still worth getting a wee generator at some point (but you have to understand that, to Joe Public who know nothing about these things, it can be a bit of a scary subject).
