If you are looking for first aid training why not volunteer for the St Johns Ambulance and get the training for free?

Good tip... I went to their website and bought their work kit refill, which is all the useful stuff minus the box etc and therefore a bit cheaper

In the end I didn't check out and got one from Amazon instead for about £15. It was a nice kit though there is a fair bit of duplication with what I already have e.g. scissors, and stuff that I don't see myself needing a lot of e.g. foil blankets, triangular bandages. I have split the stuff between home and car, taking account of the different needs of incidents at home n on the road.

In future I will just be stocking up on things like wound dressings, and replacing saline solution/antiseptic every so often.

The whole duplicate thing... Too many foil blankets no such thing.. You come across a 2 car pile up on a back road in the middle of winter with 5 or more injured people..... Who gets the one blanket<?

Same with triangle bandages same accident 2 people with broken legs that need splinting as help is a long way ayay there's 8 triangle bandages gone

Good point mate, and in fact I have put both blankets in my car kit, plus all but one of the triangular bandages as in the home I could improvise both.

Btw I felt that my kit was a bit low on wound dressings and also it had no steri strips but I managed to get a reasonable starting stock of 8-10 of each on Amazon for under a fiver.

Came across an accident tonight a 20 stone chap had come off his bike KO'ed himself bust his leg and thumb. + neck pain.......

took me 2 foil blankets to wrap him up he was a big chap

Wife is a Paramedic so I asked her to come up with a list of must haves in a FAK to cover most eventualities. After removing the specialist bits like O2 and morphine we ended up with this:

Bandages
Steri strips
Water gel
Foil blanket with fleece
Tremadol
Ibuprofen
Calpol
Cocodamol
Paracetamol
Anti-histamine
Gloves

Our home one is stored in a Tupperware box and the travel one is keep in a toiletry bag.
