How close are you to bugging out?

Post by britrb »

Just wondering how close you are to bugging out due to the Ebola scare. I'm on the Isle of Wight, so I think first case here, and I'm popping smoke!

No plans here either , not even considered it. I don't seem to recall any international airports on the Isle of Wight so your risk is potentially lower than other areas of the country anyway  . As has been said before there aren't any cases in this country and the virus itself is difficult to catch plus one has to remember that bugging out could be hazardous on its own. An accident or illness could very well mean a trip to hospital which would defeat the object.

I am working with my parish council. We are a close knit community in a rural village. We would all most likely bug in and make a infirmary to separate the infected from the mainstream population.

So far the NHS seems to have sorted this one out. That is to say they contained it in isolation unlike Texas and Spain. So Credit where credit is due.

AS to bugging out, why?

Personally I think with ebola you're far, far better to bug-in. Close up the drawbridge, batten down the hatches and don't let anyone in (and don't go out yourself). It's contact transmissible, not airborne. It's not like flu or measles. If you bug-out you're mixing with and touching possible carriers up to the point you get to your BOL and then you close up the drawbridge, batten down the hatches and don't let anyone in (and don't go out yourself). Save yourself the "dangerous" bit in the middle and stay home!

It's not even a consideration.

Why leave the security and safety of my home, and my preps, to simply put myself out in it where I have no control :?:

What exactly are you worried about and why do "you" feel the need to bug out?

Not planning it, think I'd feel safer bugging in and keeping a close eye on things from the relative comfort of my own home.
