I am in a position which allows me to just break away anyway, my old place will be looked after so no worries there.
Probably complete my relocation in another 2 days.
I'll wait for all this to blow over .... If nothing happens then nothing happens.....i'll return in Jun time maybe.
for now i'll sign off and get cracking.
if any ones interested... i will give an update next week.
Makes more sense now I must say ;) This Ebola thing is hard to gauge, though at this point other than someone coming here with it as just happened in the USA, returning health workers, or health workers, treating victims brought here are at most initial risk, followed closely by whoever the have close enough contact with, so given the need to continue life as normal as possible and with no option to relocate I'm not locking down yet.

I am finding the other "Ebola trigger" thread interesting, helps me form a perspective.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

UPDATE 2:

Now almost bedded in to my Alt location.
It is now apparent what my prepp shortfalls are. Have been stocking a supply of food for a couple of years now, the odd tin here, the odd tin there etc etc. After my stock check reall world eating became apparant:
I have loads of tins of food that i 'would eat' and can eat, however my food storage did not adhere to a weekly menu rotation
eg Mon - Curry & rice / Tue Chilli & Potatoes/rice etc etc

After a big sort out we are are modifying our stash for a sensible weekly menu system.

Also we are eating as normal and doing the normal shopping run (although a bit further away this time). Our stash remains our stash!
Will be focusing this week on heating and water catchment.

That's interesting Quaid, The eat what you store thing doesn't stand up does it? we have tins of stuff which whilst we do eat ( some of us) it's clear that in normal times whilst there is the option to eat fresh/frozen at a reasonable price, this stuff will eventually have to be disposed of and whilst donating to a food bank is a nice thought, I'd rather make a sound investment in what we will use and donate to charity in a more usual manner.

So the menu for tough times needs a slight rethink to store what you will eat, and don't bother with the stuff some archaeologist will be digging up in a thousand years thinking it was our staple deit ;) we have to be honest with ourselves and pay more for stuff we will eat now, I don't care of it will be my grandchildren who throw out stuff I bought which as Mick Dundee said "You can live on it".... the truth is plain to see after you've been at it a year or two.

Will leave on Monday 13th Oct 14.
My question is.. is anyone considering going to an alternate location prior to any potential mass Ebola outbreak or widespread resource shortage / panic?
and what preparations has anyone made to this specific threat?

Good luck!
Your paranoid ;) Absolutely no reason to leave home, in fact my son is on holiday in New York (xmas shopping) just now and his mom and I have no problems with him being there and we're both health care professionals. You have a far bigger chance from dying of the flue than you have from Ebola.

have a read through there and go home chap.

At least they have some good practise.

We all have our own "personal" limits on what we are worried about. We might be running for the hills over something the OP is blasé about.
IF it was part of a scam to cull us, as a lot think will happen, then OP did the right thing. It could have been to late for us.

Be interesting to see how it all went.

No its not a plan to 'cull us' I know you said 'IF' but come on, you can't take that conspiracy nonsense seriously.

No I dont believe that at all or I would have said so. ;) I know a lot think it will happen, seen it said on many places.. Im just saying we all have our own personal worries and mocking other members for what they might or might not believe isnt good. Bad enough to get called paranoid by non preppers, it should not happen on a prepping group.

I just prep for bad weather, my own personal misfortune if my money is stopped, power going out and simpler things like that.. but would not dream of taking the mick out of others who prep for "bigger" things.
