For those of you who are Deaf or have Hearing Impairments, have you considered registering your disability with the local council?
I am partially deaf in both ears and have Tinnitus in both ears too. I have to wear bi-lateral hearing aids.
I registered my disability with the local council and am now eligible for a number of concessions. The most useful of which is a free travel much the same an OAP bus pass. Via the local fire brigade I had a free fire evaluation of my house and was fitted with a wi-fi smoke alarm. It works as a normal smoke alarm sounder but also communicates with a strobe-light and an under-pillow vibrating doodah-thingy. I also have a pair of IR Headphones for my TV.
It's certainly worth thinking about it.

Re: Deafness
My old man has an hearing aid that's getting used an increasing amount lately. I'll have a word with him about this.
Thanks for bringing this up.

Re: Deafness
I have bi-lateral hearing aids as well, industrial deafness from the weaving industry. when I wear them they are off great help, but I spend most of my time travelling between jobs or working alone so dont bother most of the time.
But you are right, I have a free bus pass and various other benefits, it's always worth claiming.
