Fixed the 2nd hand Cadac safari grill i managed to get on ebay, you can use it to grill, hotplate, BBQ and use pots on it, including its own lid/wok, all goes in a carry bag and uses your normal screw style epigas/coleman butane canisters, wouldnt be my goto BOB cooker, but good if you have to feed the family if its in the boot of the car. :D

Repaired my old stirrup pump (the old original hose had gone hard and split tried some cheap diy super store hose about a year ago but it kinked and bent so was efectively useless...

got some good quality hose, set to stripped and greased the stintered bronze bearing seal , and repacked the top gland with hessian and plumbers joint compound it only does a water jet rather than spray and jet switchable but ITSHTF and there is no mains water or fire service i can move water by hand and put out fires...

We dont have a solid fuel stove or open fire sadly :( but if i did this with a set of drain rods would be ideal in case of a chimney fire)

Had a visit to Burger King today with my lad.
I procured a few Salt, Sugar and Canderel Sweetener packs to add to my BOB/GHB.

They come in handy at times and are much easier to carry than a big retail pack.

Today I split enough firewood to last the next month. Checked all the bait points around the property, especially the storage areas. Now Winter is upon us the vermin will move in. Went for a mooch and got another big bag of mushrooms. I never come back empty handed if I can help it. :D Then off into town to pick up sugar from FarmFoods. 59p a kilo at the moment. I use it for brewing alcohol. Speaking of which I set 5gallons of medium dry red wine, 3 gallons of elderberry wine and 5 gallons of best bitter going this afternoon. After dinner I am bottling 5 gallons of Chardonnay. My stocks are building nicely.
Then I mucked out the back seat of my truck. My emergency kit, blanket and all that mullarkey. All tidy now. One afternoon this week I need to repair one of my coldframes.
Also at some point I need to actually do some money-earning work!

A friend turned up with a couple of buckets of grapes, they're busy festering now with sugar!

Managed my autumn trip to the great trading emporium known as Trago (those in the southwest will understand my pain - those not, think of a shop where you can buy gunsights and kitchens, seeds and wellies, nice toiletries and a sofa all under one roof - John Lewis crossed with a very grubby pound shop!)

Now have every seed we might need next year - all the earth (not fuller's! 8-) ). Extra bedding, toiletries, storage boxes, coal, vitamin/mineral supplements, extra first aid stuff, oh the list goes on, and on, cat food, de-icer, disinfectant, gloves, light bulbs, wellies, fruit netting, preserving bits and bobs, plant food, candles. You get the idea...............

Now I just have to put all the stuff away!

I retrieved my Nightsearcher Panther HID Searchlight from the ex-missus' house today. Got it charging up right now in readiness for winter. I'm going to be hanging it behind the door for emergency use.

This sucker is bright! It's like one of the stadium lights at the Hull City ground

Checked my smoke alarm too and it doesn't seem to be working for some reason. I'm getting the odd red flash from the unit but it won't sound so i'll give the Fire Brigade a ring in the morning and get them to come and replace it. It's a fully sealed unit and a special one for dead or hearing impaired users so there is nothing that I can do with it :geek:

It must be loud if it'll wake the Deceased

Been away.
Got a couple of 500ml Sigg clones (Millets, £2) that I'm going to use for fuel bottles and a teapot with a built-in infuser (so I can rotate my loose tea stores) for £2.50...... I know, I'm cheap

been thinking about this a while ever since during some electrical work when my father turned the lighting circuit off whilst i was up in out Attic / store room leaving me groping for the access hole.....

In a powercut or shtf when we are up there by torch light (some preps are stashed up there) it should make getting back down a bit safer,,,

i came across some glow in the dark high grip tape,,,,,

when the lights go out,,,

i can still find the opening even at night with no light from downstairs I wont fall to my death .... just cut 4pcs at 6" and 4 bits at 8" and got them stuck on the corners.. with a few bits to mark the ladder control rods and mounting bracket (not in pic) total cost £4 for 1m of tape from ebay
