I'm currently in need of an EDC knife but it must be UK Legal. My present one is a lock knife which is a no-no and a go-straight-to-jail card if the rozzers get a whiff of it. I still intend to keep that one and it will be buried deep in my BOB/GHB.
The Lansky looks really good for the price and I wouldn't be too worried if I were to misplace it either.

I have the Liong Mah that Devonian posted above and I'd recommend it. It's sharp, not to bulky and a good fit even for my ape-like hands and digits. I've had it for about two months and it's still as sharp as it was. The only negative point is you can't use the back of the blade for fire striking or shaving tinder but that's an issue with all non locking knives.
For the price it's great value.
They do a serrated version but I believe that's not UK legal.

While we are chatting about knives, here's another one I bought from Heinnie's website or as I like to call it, the Webshop of Dreams. A Maserin Drop Point Machete. Sharp is not the word. I've been using it all morning to cut through the upper branches of fir trees which are about 30 to 50mm thick, then I've cleaned it off under the tap and used it to slice cheese for a sandwich, that's how strong and sharp it is. Granted it's stretching the UK legal carry laws a bit but I do have a reasonable explanation to carry it.
Back to the topic - The Liong Mah gets my vote for EDC - as long as you have a reasonable explanation for carrying it.

The No. 6 is still UK legal, but for me the serrations on knives are pretty much pointless and I prefer the plain blade like the No. 5.
I have the lansky world legal.It is a mini beast! Very handy and versatile little tool.I can understand why people may seem put off by it,it is very chunky and ''tactical'' looking.The problem with uk legal edc's is,regardless if you adhere to all the laws regarding carrying one,if you are stopped by the police and you are carrying one on your person,chances are they will take it off of you anyway.It all boils down to the individual police officer.You are allowed to use most knives if you can justify why you are carrying it,for instance, many bushcraft knives are over 3 inches and if you are into bushcraft and out in the wilds,not having one is pretty pointless,as long as it is not to hand when you are walking down the street etc,if it is sheathed and in the bottom of your backpack,usually there is no problem.Knives do get a bad press,and for those of us who use them as a tool,it is a bit of a political minefield.But going back to the original question, personally i think the lansky world legal is a great knife for many different uses,would recommend one.
The only knife you tend to not have issues with when it come to stop and search is a Swiss army knife. The police will jump on you for anything legal or not, I've talked to a number of senior police officers in the past, plus a handful that go clay shooting.
You maybe in the right, but they can always say you were displaying threatening behaviour .
