tested my food preps,

Post by bettersafethansorry »

Ben off for a while got made redundant with 0 settlement 2 months ago and its really tested us. if it haddent been for my preps we'd have come close to starving the way things have been.

Thankfully things are now starting to pick back up and im now self employed and business is picking up well. so nows the time to restock the preps and get back to readynessi think after food restock then lighting and fuel is on the agenda.

anyway thought id say hi and im back!!

Welcome back and I'm glad to hear things have picked up again for you. If it is not too personal please could you tell us what it was like living from your preps through it? Might be a helpful heads up for people. Did you find your preps adequate? Has it changed how you are prepping at all?

Again, welcome back dude.

Thanks people,

yes it has changed a bit, my food preps were what u needed to live on so lots of dried food and rice etc, as i build up my food preps again, I am now adding flavour too them as it does get u down after a while eating the same old, so plenty of herbs and spices and dried packet sauces etc to give anything we eat a bit more diversity. Also I was quite shocked how much we went through powdered milk so this will have to be increased in level purely for all the brews etc.

With my 2nd wave of preps I will also start to consider entertainment preps, as life without internet showed me my 100% digital movie collections based online are obviously useless in the situation with no net.

Last thing i will be doing is money based preps, (safe, gold) im going to get in to the habit of buying a small weight of gold each time i have some extra money after all bills etc etc. Nice way to save and value is always going up.

Its good to be back to a bit of normality but as soon as im back on top these preps will be shoved in to a more serious priority...

(p.s.) my wife who thinks i was a nutty prepper with a tinfoil hat now appreciates it all fully.

Well done and welcome back.

Can I ask what meals you created from your preps, I've got a niggling worry that although I've got pleanty of the basics when it comes to making a meal I may be missing something obvious.

Well done for coming through and providing the necessities you all needed. I hope things continue to improve for you all.

I realised I didn't have any herbs etc so duly stocking up on these. I also find it helpful to work out how many complete meals I have in my stocks which does show you where you need to add things. I had lots of tinned fruits but nothing much to go with them which is being sorted also.

Glad things are picking up for you and your right about prepping for entertainment, its something often over looked by a lot of preppers. All my DVD's are ripped to hard drives, a lot are also converted to AVI files so I can easily use them away from home]

Very true lol, we do take more if needed ;)

There is an unusual container on that crowded table, can anyone spot it?
