I hope this is the right place....

Post by Deeps »

to introduce myself. I've just recently heard of 'prepping' and realised that I've been a prepper all my life so so had a look around the internet and seen that there is a range of preppers, our Colonial cousins as usual tending towards the more extreme end but now that I know there is a 'category' that I fall into I'm looking to embrace it.

Hello to everyone and I look forward to learning as I spend more time on here. Am I in a minority who has a missus who thinks that the whole prepping thing is nuts ?

My other half thinks I'm nuts. Barely tolerates it but i can do enough to get the basics in place. Luckily it's never about financial choices so we muddle through.

Welcome,
I'm pretty lucky because ALL my family prep even if the elder generation let me buy stuff for them knowing exactly why we do.
I am willing to bet that other halfs that see our prepping as mad will be less anti in 3 or 4 years.
The bonus there is that they will have an understanding of sorts which will elevate their own ability above that of the totally un-prepped if and when the need to go active comes along.

It's like my wife has seen me change a car wheel but never done it, if she needed to she would know how to from watching me

Again, welcome and enjoy the forum,

Hello!
My wife thought I was nuts then tolerated it. Now she's more or less on board. Both kids (13 and 15) get it.

Hi, thanks for the kind words. I've been busy reading through the 500 odd pages of what preps people have been getting up to over the last 4 years or so
I've a way to go yet but picked up a few things, looking forward to learning as I go, as I said, I've kind of been an 'amateur' prepper since I was a kid so I'm not really coming to it cold but everyday's a school day and all that.

As I've been reading I've noticed that there are a fair number of the fairer sex posting here which surprised me, most of the other prepper types I've known have been guys so I can maybe use this to convince Mrs Deeps that its not just me being mad.

Ciao 4 now guys

My partner tollerates it to a degree, which is more than in the beginning, he thought I was nuts! (so he doesn't know half the stuff I have stashed away...) but my son is on board and gets it.
