We (here at Stashings) do not think of ourselves as 'preppers' in the sense that we wait for armageddon to arrive. We 'prep' for everyday stuff and increased self reliance. That said I know there are a number of people on the forum who's other half is not 'on board' and have budgets for their stashing. What has cropped up here (fairly regularly) is a drop in income (unemployment/illness etc) where the preps have come into their own and unsurprisingly the OH who was not on board is a convert!

I've tried to explain that its not for the 'zombie apocalypse' and that I basically intend to just stockpile (more than I do now which she has come to accept) stuff that we use and with a few exceptions which we'll hopefully not need (like extra first aid gear) its all stuff that we use on a regular basis. She can be a funny cow at times though and I'm pretty thick skinned so I'll just crack on and do my thang Touch wood, we're OK financially as long as we're not stupid so its more a case of her just being a bit arsey. She usually comes round eventually, she'll just takes her own sweet time.

I've been busy catching up on the "what preps this week" thread and I'm up to 300 odd, there's some good stuff and I'm looking forward to reading all the threads and hopefully I'll have something worthwhile to chip in too. I'm getting kinda giddy about the whole thing.

Hi deeps and welcome, The OH not being on board is a common syndrome known as headinthesanditis, As the supermarkets use just in time deliveries, Severe winter weather will affect the stock levels. The most stock they have is for three days of normal trading, so any panic buying really screws it up.
