if shit hit the fan how will you be cooking!?

Post by patrickm35 »

Hello all, how will you be cooking your food? For me all I have managed to get so far are alot of hexi blocks and a stove , and a small gas cooker which screws on to a small gas bottle. Planning on making some sort of potbelly stove. But any of you thought on stocking on supplys to make e.g making bread ! ???

Honestly, it depends on the event.

Camping stoves, chiminea, bbq, open fire or mainline gas ;)
If at first you don't succeed, excessive force is usually the answer.

i have gas , canned and big bottle .butane and propane .
hexi cooker and blocks but i`m looking at chafing dish fuel cans , they last any were from 2 to 6 hours depending an which ones you get .
i`m thinking about the just add hot water food stuffs , nothing is more certain to draw peoples attention than the smell of food cooking .

Coleman stove running on unleaded, or LPG bottle gas, or on top of the wood burner. Our main cooking is by electric so it sensible to have an alternative (or 2)

i wouldn`t say big supply . one normal size butane bottle .one larger than normal propane and a couple of dozen single use butane cans .
for the record , if you have the right adapter , propane bottles can be filled from a lpg pump .

I've got fuel storage issues, far too dangerous to keep lots of it around, so to a point gas, hexi cookers, wood, we have options but they wont be long lived.

At first I miss read the title as who will you be cooking
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

Initially a briefcase style gas canister single ring stove with enough gas for a week or two. Then, once the canisters run out, a Wild Woodgas Stove MK IIt. Though if I was buying the woodgas stove again I would get the one from ebay for £20!
