I've started sorting through my inventory to tick off more items and decide what to get next. I've sorted enough basics for bugging in for a month (two adults, a 1 year old and a dog) so I need to look at expanding on the basics for bugging in or start on bugging out bags. With the little one still so young I've been putting all my efforts into shutting us away to start with as that's most likely to be the safest place for us.
I'll definitely be getting more water if I can find room in the shed, a supply of rock salt and a new snow shovel ready for the 1" of snow we might get that always brings us to our knees.

Ordered some chickweed seeds online and some of what I hope is large leaf dandelion. I hope to be able to grow the chickweed on my kitchen windowsill so that i can pick it and eat it at will. Chickweed being an edible weed with many nutritional properties and that will work nicely in my blender with fruits (probably even dehydrated stuff) as a cheap nutrient boost.

After finding out how to recharge 'normal' batteries I've bought a clock like timer to use with my battery charger and a meter to check the wigglies in the batteries. I suppose I should add the caveat "Don't try this at home kids".

In the last month I've stocked up on 6 months of kibble for the dog. It's all on rotation and any more and it would go past the use by date and lose flavour.
I've also run low on AAs so have stocked up on batteries with good expiry dates. I make sure all my torches and radios run on AAs for simplicity. I try to use rechargeables too.
I grabbed some LED torches at £1.89 each incl. shipping. The price has jumped up to over £2 now, so still a good price. They're small and now permanently live in coat pockets for urban survival, along with a foil blanket, presciption meds, some wound clotting sponges and an everyday item that can be used for self defence or eaten. The sponges are to help me or others in case of terrorist attack in London, or a bad accident.
I have cheap portable Sony radio on order (Sony ICFS22 Personal Radio) which again would fit in a coat pocket.

Hubby bought me an awesome copper kettle which now adorns my wood stove . I picked up a wash board (authentic) and I started stocking $1 bottles of washing up liquid. Whilst I shudder at hand washing dishes or clothes we are in the business of being prepared.

YES i walked away mid sentence , you were boring me to death and my survival instincts kick in .

Still working on my general fitness, and gradually learning as much as I can about off grid living, permaculture, and home remedies.
One of my favourite things to do is to walk around locally just paying attention to my surroundings. And always absorbing safety instructions, general layout and escape routes when out.I think you can train yourself to be more observant.
I really must order some wood, but I've promised any spare money this month to a big jolly man with a beard.

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.
