I'm part way through the 299 Days series by Glen Tate, has anyone else on here read any?
I'm interested to know peoples thoughts on the series, obviously being set in America it's only partially relevant to a potential situation in the UK, but I've found it a pretty compelling read (not a literary masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination but readable).
So who's read it and what did you think? Also if you'd like to I'd be happy to pass on my copy, I'm not one for reading a book more than once.
Sam.
299 Days, anyone read it? Thoughts?

Want the truth Ugh! Right wing US rubbish. He only feels safe holding his pistol, lazy socialist ( later on becomes commie bastards).
I'm not going to go on, let me say only that of all the US prepper stuff this stands out as the most, can't really think off a word, just ugh!

I think there's been comments on 299 days previously when it first came out. I've read all ten (on kindle) and I'd say I enjoyed them but I found some of the politics a bit uncomfortable as well as the gun culture.

Yeah that's pretty much my thoughts on the series, I wouldn't say the gun culture bothers me, I see a gun the same as a knife, a hammer, a drill, as tools. I think you're right that the authors viewpoint is very skewed, I wouldn't necessarily brand it hardcore right-wing, but then the way he talks about the left did leave me feeling that he was harping on a bit about a minority, when the majority are more moderate and in posession of a lot more common sense.
Could you explain your communist comment to me please? I may have interpreted what goes on in the book differently but I didn't see any of that.

I get you now, I thought you meant it espouses the virtues of communism. Yeah it's a tough read at times due to plain bad writing, I think what I found interesting was the portrayal of a gradual and partial economic collapse rather than Russians teaming up with aliens to produce 10ft mega zombies hungry for our corneas you know?
