I was going to get the base down ready for moving a greenhouse but the ground is covered in snow. So,I shall light the stoves, sit down with pen, paper and computer and plan how I am going to construct the new Summerhouse. Fencing, slabbing and power right up there have got to go in in the right order etc. to save doing work twice. I am particularly interested in installing some solar power/lighting.
What has that to do with prepping? I hear you ask. Well, not only will it be a leisure area(that we have hankered after for many years), but it will be alternative accommodation should it be needed for whatever reason.
Anyhow, it is as good a reason as any to sit down after working 60 hours in 5 days in the run up to the Christmas madness.

Well, Mrs B is laid up on the sofa with a stomach bug and I'm nursing man-flu, rehydrating and watching series 4 of Doomsday Preppers on the interweb, purely for entertainment I'm sure you understand.
Prep-wise, at home the mains power is off and power is from a 110AH 12v battery with 1000w inverter back feeding through our distribution board. Central heating is on, TV on, fridge on, router on. No lights, just the basics to keep the house going. I reckon we're drawing about 500 to 800 watts which means about 30 to 60 mins run time on this battery.

Wife just got a facebook message from a neighbour that he has run out of logs. His heating is broken, and he uses his fireplace only occasionally. So I took him a barrow load of logs. He is a nice bloke, and its just the neighbourly thing to do. You can never have too many friends.

Oh! And I jokingly told him to get his sh*t together and get a stock in. He was adamant that will happen tomorrow.

Nicely done, may the karma come back ten-fold.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Looking into installing a wood burning stove into the dining room , this is a single storey extention from the house. Any ideas on how high the chimney will need to go, don't fancy smoke blowing in through the upstairs windows.
