hello newbie from east yorks

Post by debbor »

Hi to all.

like most things its all getting a bit scary out in the world at the moment and after all the "ed dames" stuff I have been reading and watching , its good to know its not just a mid life crisis, and many people feel the need to get ready for a very uncertain future in 2015.

thanks

Hi and welcome.

I'm not here to discredit anybody but I do remember watching a H2 UFO show about aliens.
The person interviewed did say the missing fingers on his hand were from an incident between American troops and aliens which share a facility in the desert.
If he is telling the truth then it's interesting, if not then it's a way to get some fame.
I know that mathematically the probability of aliens being out there is a very, very good chance but I wont let that worry me or deviate me from my prepping course, the only tin foil I have is in a plastic box for kitchen preps and not on my head

That said, welcome again and I'm sure you will find much here that will aid you and your prepping.

Worrying times indeed, as you say.

hello,
yes don't know too much about alien conspiracy (lol) but my other half thinks I am round the bend nuts ... prepping or planning for "big solar flare event or emp " or "war or terror attack that takes us off grid".

I am buying solar generating system (ground zero in sale ) , tent , water purification tabs , but the list is getting bigger , I think I have already got some good tips here and have spent quite a few quid already...so I have started...I suppose.

all I need now Is food , weapons , water lots of , radios , cooking stuff , fuel , etc etc etc ....

thanks

Welcome. Top tip here. Don't worry and hurry slowly. You won't do it all in 5 minutes. I notice in the last sentence of your post you mention weapons. Please bear in mind that UK Preppers operates and discusses subjects within the law of our land. So no weapons please.
Other than that, dive in and enjoy.

Ey up

For kit look in Winfield's on hessle road in hUll bit further away towsure on Holme lane Sheffield or go outdoors in Scunny or Donny

Just don't rush into it plan what you want things like solar go bigger than you want to allow scope for future upgrades or increases in use....
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

thanks for all the tips you very kind people ,
I only meant "knife set" or "hunting air rifle or Catapult" not a bazooka when I mentioned weapons. I will leave the Rambo guns to our American cousins. this is east Yorkshire not east texas after all...

will check out the shops and stores mentioned on posts...very usefull.

Jansman,
You raise a good point about 'Law of the Land'
I and many others here legally own legally bought bows/crossbows and other projectile items.
What are we calling 'not abiding by the Law of the Land ?

As things stand our items are either for target shooting or objects of martial art
Do we have the licence to 'theorise that in a scenario whereby the ability to obtain food from supermarkets/High Street vendors has passed the 3 days and the enforcement of the ROL has crumbled we #may# see a need to hunt ??

A grey area methinks and a sincere question :?

'Tis a grey area indeed. However, this is how it works here at UK. UK law forbids a person to "Go Equipped" i.e. carry any implement with the "intention" of using it for Offensive OR Defensive purposes. Our law is clear on that, like it or not.
Of course, if someone broke into your house at night whilst you were asleep and you happened to have a torch (big maglight?) and used it for defence then likely you would be excused as that was 'to-hand'. Of course, you would be on a sticky wicket if you had a crossbow to hand. That would be " Going Equipped"...
So the policy here is that we do not discuss such things. Like you, I own guns etc. we all know what they are capable of doing in the events we may encounter, but we keep it to ourselves.

Sometime soon, there is to be a change in UK law ( like it or not)that will allow broad surveillance of the web, phones etc. and we have to be whiter than white. We have all seen the extremes on'Doomsday Preppers' and the like, and we do not wish to be tarred with that brush. We have peaks and troughs with membership here, and non-moderators do not see the folks who do not get over the first hurdle,as it were. Some of the initial posts can be classed as psychotic to be honest.
UK Preppers is,and will remain, a forum that will not allow any topics that may give the impression to anyone that we are not law abiding.
Thankyou.
