Because i am just prepping in general and not knowing what even may occur, as well as food/water, I'm sorting out clothes at the moment and deciding what (if anything) I need to purchase and/or replace. T shirts jumpers and underwear etc have been simple to decide on, but I'm undecided about trousers.
Jeans, I know are not the ideal item so they have been left aside, but would joggers or proper trousers (like combat trousers) be the best to store in a BOB, and also home storage. I like both, and would like to eventually have a selection stocked for our use if TSHTF. And although I would purse my mouth in annoyance at their lack of foresight, I know my sibs don't have any preps at all and may turn up.
Thanks

Re: Trousers/Joggers
I always find it hard to decide between thick warm things, and things that wil dry fast Damkina. I like wool because its really warm but it isnt easy to wash and dry.

Re: Trousers/Joggers
Exactly the dilemma I'm having, and wanting to get at least one BOB finished I'm unsure which to chose. I don't want a load of clothing that looks good that's impossible to dry out, but we want to be warm and as comfortable as circumstances will allow.

Re: Trousers/Joggers
So whatif you just always wore warm comfy things, and bought waterproof/windproof/lightweight stuff to pack in the bag --would that make sense ?I've got "walking trousers" (that I use for the garden lol)

Re: Trousers/Joggers
As LIL says the cheapest way is to wear warm cloths, base layer and fleece and keep waterproof jacket and trousers in your pack.
You can pick up basic but useful waterproof suit from Go-Outdoors for £10.99, thats jacket and trousers.
Also fleecec and base layers from a fiver
Jeans can be a nightmare in the wet as they soak up water from the ankles like a sponge

Re: Trousers/Joggers
Layers is the answer, thin and lightweight, Joggers are worse than jeans.
Loose fitting, cotton, outer layer (not including water-proofs)
There are a lot of places I could look for info, I'll go and have a look.

I like cords for walking outdoors or gardening. They are warm but light and not so bad as jeans for wicking water and mud.
But fleece breeks are the bees knees for comfort and warmth.
Dad was always in tweeds and plus fours and when I think back, he often complained about them being wet and heavy and taking ages to dry, but...even when wool`s wet it`s still way warmer than denim.

Here's one that explains the layering system quite well.

I have used helly henson gear in the past and even when soaking wet the base layer was dried in seconds with a quick twirl around.
Some very nice Merino wool base layers are great as well
It's best to save the comfy stuff for when you are at "home" in the warm and dry

Merino wool is unbeatable, and you can get blends now of silk/wool or bamboo/wool. I could start a business knitting woolly combinations

Re: Trousers/Joggers
I love wool (well, I would, lol) but can`t wear it next to my skin as it makes me itch like mad.
I wear cotton layers under it. One thing I do in winter weather is wear lots of thin, light layers, as if I`m working outdoors I can get heated so light layers are easier to remove than thick.
Lil, that bamboo fabric is great, OH bought me a cami made of it and it`s even better than cotton.
