You know, I haven't a clue what you just said ...... Bit of a Neo-Ludditeojiu0u4 wrote:Interesting, given me a lightbulb moment. Will need to fiddle putting my RPi into acting as local wifi access point + dhcp + dns server, but that is inspired for use with my kindle fire and my htc with juicessh client plus browser. All three are usb powered and could run off my solar panels. Even when there is no upstream net access I can at least get cli and graphical browser interface to proper computer without the bulk and power of laptop. I can even add more filesystem storage to the rpi via usb ports over and above the 32gb on the sd cards. And I can run all sorts and dev on RPi. Cool!
I run a Linux based system because Microsoft is EVIL

Re: Computer?
A computer is key to my preps. I have a small laptop in a faraday cage loaded with key information about my supplies. drugs (inc. instructions and contra indication materials), and tutorials. I also have many terabytes of films and tv shows and hundreds of games. Power I can generate through solar would go to (a) walkie-talkies and (b) my computer.
For me, storing information, entertaining the family, and developing skills are key. Keeping 3 small children holed up in a SHTF situation for X weeks would be impossible without entertainment. And yes, I also have board games
