Got a load of firewood to collect also.
You are quite correct Jansman we all need to do something to relax and take the time to smell the roses. Fishing with a rod gives you time to reflect and relax and just chill. The time it becomes hectic is when you have to land your fish :D
Had a great day today. Caught well over 60lb of fish. Great fun! Travelling to the lake I was checking out the game that was knocking about. There is plenty about, provided you are early enough. Interesting that the game was further out from my home area (a car ride away) which may not be possible shtf.
We live in a rural area, but it is getting busier, so game is harder to catch. If things went South ,stored food is certainly the way to go (but we know that!) supplemented by garden and foraging. I have been (re)reading Urban Survival by Ragnar Benson, and it made me look at my surroundings with a fresh eye. There is not much I have not hunted over the years, but you get lazy.
That is my ramble over.

Ended my 36 hour fast and discovered this link to a website about the science of fasting with some reference to evolutionary importance. It does seem to be well referenced.

It is a sport fishery , so it has to go back. When I fish the river though, I do take the odd pike to eat which is legal (as long as it in the size limit) and there are plenty of them here.

My wife and I have been completely spoilt on a little RV that some chaps from York organised, We promised to teach them basic shooting and archery techniques and in return they took us to a wood on the Scarborough to York road where they gave us some off road driving instruction, I was surprised how much skill proper control of a fully loaded 4x4 110 Land rover needed when off road, it was a very long bone jarring day but well worthwhile. Now perhaps wife will let me have a 4x4.

Well as money has been a bit tight and I have dipped into reserves, this week I am re stocking my Apple and Orange juice supplies and checking over the bottles of water I keep. Also I am planting more things in the allotment to prepare for food ahead. I have tidied out my little shed in the allotment (chased out the BIG spiders that had made a home in my chair,) and am replacing my stash supplies which I keep there : - several litre bottles of water, individually wrapped fruit and snack bars and hot drink sachets. I need to add a few tins and take down my Kelly kettle and then I just need to top up the basic first aid supplies and it will all be ready again. The roof needs mending and re felting, then it will be a water tight bolt hole for one with a few days worth of supplies.

LOL, I'm doing exactly the same! The shed roof has just been re-felted. I'm just rotating the water, tuck box needs refilling and I want to put together a little box of useful stuff.

Mr Decaff had his surgery on Monday so no prepping at the moment. All went well thankfully and no cancer found, now the long recovery begins. Feels very frustrating not being able to help him and he is in a lot of pain even with morphine. The ward is very clean and the nurses are lovely. He's currently got a drug addict who is rather loud due to not getting enough of methodone when he wants it and a homeless chap who refuses to have a shower and verbally abuses the nurses in his ward with him which is sad to see. It made me think what would happen if the NHS wasn't there to catch those in such a sad state of life and what would happen to the many patients who are in need of operations to survive. Very scary thought and a sharp reminder that good health ànd staying healthy is so important for us all.

My very best wishes to Mr Decaff, and a speedy recovery too. Your observations are spot on. Without our NHS we would be in a right state.
