Am going to practice increasing my skills in making dosa with it. Its also a prime ingredient in Papadum which i hope to be able to make myself at home on the cheap from scratch.

I have seen a recipe for a Sandwich Loaf that is soda based and uses Urad Dal ( http://www.veganricha.com/2015/02/lenti ... ecipe.html ) which means that if you usually have the other ingredients around and lentils keep for a longtime, then you can have bread reasonably conveniently if you have Urad Dal around.

Each 2 Kg bag was under a fiver and you can make a heck of a lot of pancake batter with that.

Just starting my experiments, will keep you posted.

I am also learning how to make vegan "cheeses" using tapioca starch and agar agar (which is more expensive, but quite fun!)
I love lentils but that "bread" looks really grim. The thing that is wrong with vegan and vegetarian food (I've eaten a lot as I live in Brighton) is when they try at make a free from alternative, as it always comes out horrible in comparison. The original recipes that aren't imitating something can be fantastic. The only good vegan alternatives that bucks the trend is chocolate pudding made with tofu and chocolate brownies as the consistency/density is close enough.

I've been doing a lot of weekend work to put away savings for a rainy day, even working the bank holiday weekend.

The problem that I have traditionally come across was the issue of patience. The soaking time is really important and it can take you 1 and 1/2 - 2 days to make a good product. But on the other hand, you can make it and it is cheap :D :D :D

Literally just started prepping!!!

All I have at the moment is 3 days emergency bottled water and a day's worth of food for my family. I know this isn't even a fraction of what would be even considered useful but it will last us through a very short power outage if we don't already have food in.

Also my family has got back to the gym. We haven't been in a year and a half som are just trying to make it a habit to go at least three times a week.

:)
To prep or not to prep?

Just got a new car so decided to kit it out properly;
FAK, Fire extinguisher, Tow Rope, Hi-Viz, Spare Water Proof Jacket, Few bottles of water(Drinking and for radiator), Spare screen wash and wipers, A little food, Pump, multi-tool, and of course Duct tape!
Plus a few little extras.
Hope for the best, prep for the worst and keep it need to know.

To be a consistent winner means preparing not just one day, one month or even one year - but for a lifetime.

Today I had a greenhouse/workshop day. I do not work on Mondays, so the family have been at home being Bank Holiday. Meant I could keep out of the way! :D
So I put out all the tomatoes in the polytunnel, cucumbers, chillies , melons and aubergines. Also put the onion plants out. Then I had the afternoon in the workshop stripping an repairing a chainsaw. Had the radio on, a very enjoyable hour or two. The chainsaw is now humming! Saved a few bob. Given that wood is our primary heat source I have two chainsaws so that I can process wood with no problems.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.
