So I put out all the tomatoes in the polytunnel, cucumbers, chillies , melons and aubergines. Also put the onion plants out. Then I had the afternoon in the workshop stripping an repairing a chainsaw. Had the radio on, a very enjoyable hour or two. The chainsaw is now humming! Saved a few bob. Given that wood is our primary heat source I have two chainsaws so that I can process wood with no problems.
i'm coming to yours for tea ;)

Jansman you can never have to many chainsaws, I have two, main one a 56cc partner, bout 20 years old, but built far better than anything today, and a 35cc back up, been logging today myself too. Preps this week??? Bought another Jerry can for diesel storage, keeping a diesel jerrycan backup has been a life saver on more than one occasion when pennies have been tight and the car needing a drink, just put a few litres in every time I fill car, doesn't take long before it's full, some spare batteries for torch, some seeds for planting etc, it's been a busy few days.

tried the recipe outlined below. It worked Rather well, it tastes great, but I think i didn't aerate the batter enough as it ended up some what dough-ey. But griddle pan cooking the slices like a lentil steak would probably work very nicely.

Canning 8 jars of Bacon bits at the mo. Handy to have in the store cupboard.

On the downside... I've just opened my last jar of homegrown canned beans

Hey! Ex pat checking in...

Been real busy rehabilitating the raised veggie beds and I've doubled up from 6 to 12. All planted out now and the water barrels are in place with the drip irrigation the last thing to finish. Also put in a mini orchard, fenced because of the damn deers that eat everything in sight.

Next we restock the quail and try again with the honey bees.

Just need to catch the damn raccoon that ate the last lot of quail... His lordship thinks he has a plan for that....

Been playing at dehydrating fruit in the oven and the car rather pleased with the results like the raspberry's didn't like the strawberry's and can't decide if I like dried bananas or not but it's still cheaper than buying dried fruit from the supermarket

Replenished repeat prescription, bought some herb plants ( I have some herbal medicine training), dosed the chooks with their medicine and most importantly, new socks for myself and my daughter! * chuckle*.
