Decided to Stay Urban

Post by alwayscross »

So I've decided to stay urban as there is no forest large enough for me to really bug out to, im also re-doing my kit to suet the urban environment. Two things I`ve added are a gasmask and CBRN army suit, this is to protect me from any of the bacteria, germs and especially blood. Don't want any blood get on me but I feel it will, fighting or coming across it while scavenging could be my end. I`ve also been stocking up on cleaning and sanitary items, as these are my main worries. Any ideas for long term or even permanent bug in, naturally plan to scavenge for small things but need stuff for the long term which I might not be able to scavenge.

P.S I will post pictures of my new kit in couple of weeks, just adding an customising everything.

Good idea to stay urban, I reckon. This country is massively over populated and there isn't really anywhere to go. Sounds like you've got an expensive investment to make - what do you think it will cost for all the army kit and gas mask and whatever? What kind of problems do you think are most likely to occur where you live?

Well the gas mask and suit cost £80, a lot of the kit I already have so it wont be to much to do the scavenging kit. Most it will cost for the touch ups is £60, plus I can sell some of the stuff I don't need anymore. The house is another problem, I live right by a church so in times of peril I expect a lot of s*** to happen around me :( I`m mainly looking at items to help seal the house from air born bugs, as the bodies will most likely pile up. Duct tape to seal the cracks around the house, a vent was added in two of the rooms to filter the air in and out of the house, I now have the full face gas mask just waiting on the suit, bleach and over cleaning products are also added in the house kit along with the common sense stuff. Any other ideas for the kit would be appreciated, im sure there is a lot I've missed.

For the things that are most likely to happen, job loss, ill health and such, at least in a city you will find it easier to find a job and see a good doctor.

There are a lot freegans down this way (Brighton), if life gets that hard, from just talking to them its very achievable to eat for free, although quite time consuming being that you need to visit quite a few places mostly in the evening and night.

Unfortunately there is no one like that around here, everyone just stays to themselves. Thankfully have a good bit of family and very good friends about so life wont be to hard, there is also a small forest near by with a large amount of edibles so that can be an option.

For your home, if you haven't already got any, fire extinguishers. Also, to decide how you're going to secure your home and what you would use to defend yourself.

I have two extinguishers, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. Plan is to make the house look really dangerous, make it seem like s*** went down there and its a threat. Working on it, going well so far.
