I had a little talk with him and we got talking about Peak Oil (something i'm interested in) and when I mentioned gathering a stockpile, he said. "Hmm, okay". This means he is fine with it and will probably help out
Good stuff Crows, softly, softly, catchy monkey and all that. I've got a similar thing with missus Deeps, she's not exactly on the same page as myself but I'm making progress. Even use 'excuses' like "with inflation at such a low level, it makes sense to bulk buy stuff now, the prices are only going to go up". My policy is to only stock foodstuffs that I use normally so they can be cycled in to our normal usage, I've stretched it a little with some things but I don't have any foodstuffs stockpiled that I either don't eat pretty much every day or at least occasionally like Fray Bentos pies or tinned meatballs. The other thing I've been doing to convince Her Maj that 'prepping' is a good thing is helping her out on the allotment which has always been her thing but I've been more pro-active, even telling her about offers that I've read on here.
If there's anything remotely 'preppy' that your old man is into then maybe become a bit more 'interested' in it. I probably don't know your dad but most matelots like 'shiny' things so as I posted earlier, if you've got any gucchi gear then he'll probably like it, good luck dude.
