Hi All,
hope you are all well, tried to make some cotton/Vaseline fire starters tonight. Watched a few videos on you tube so I didn't totally mess it up.
Made a small fire at bottom of the garden, somewhere I have claimed as my own. Used an old mess tin to melt Vaseline, only had a small jar, so found out, you do not get too many fire-starters out of one of those, 6. Unless, I had the Vaseline too hot and some evaporated? Suggestions as to a good size jar or another make of petroleum jelly?
So moved on to using an half used candle, as it was a good size, managed to make 16.
When I try them out, will post and give you all an update.
Cheers
Chris

I buy petroleum jelly from the baby section in Tescos. Quite a big pot.
I don't bother melting the jelly, I just scoop it our using a cotton ball and light a fire that way. If I'm doing forest school I have a few of these in a plastic lidded pot. Still work.
