Looks great especially in the terms of making your water go further if in need of a shower and or washing hands when your water supply is limited.
For something that is lightweight and cheap, i'll be getting one.
Water saving Shower System
Re: Water saving Shower System
Sounds about right, some numpty reinventing the wheel and trebling the price. Why not just buy an army issue solar shower for 4 quid and only pour a litre in it?
They come with valves and hangers too which your average bottle of Evian doesn't.

Possibly a skill to practise is having a wash with a 1/2 full washing up bowl of warm water and a flannel? I can't really see a 1 litre bottle of water used as a shower shifting much muck?

I think that's a great idea.
He's firmly pitching it at disasters and emergency relief and in my experience it would be extremely valuable. If you're trucking or flying in fresh water then it's often on in 2l bottles or 5l bidons as anything heavier makes it difficult for beneficiaries to carry. A few hundred of these per distribution and you've given people the means to save water when washing clothes, cooking gear etc., and made it easier to keep clean in a tent camp or a shelter. You've made your distribution more versatile and more effective at the cost of a few pence per unit. You also make it easier to use discarded empties for washing etc. afterwards, without needing to take up space with other kit. And there's a range of accessories, especially a hands-free washing station, again super important in the field.
I'm going to get a few and give them to our humanitarian advisers to play with, when they get back from Nepal.

My maths might be a bit iffy, but I make 1 litre of water able to cover 1 square metre. Or less than half a human body at a depth of 1mm - not that great. Their big claim of 10 times the "wash time" makes it seem like they're conjuring more water as opposed to just restricting the flow to 10%.preparedsurrey wrote:Possibly a skill to practise is having a wash with a 1/2 full washing up bowl of warm water and a flannel? Probably why the already existing, self heating, cheaper solar showers in use everywhere around the world hold 20 litres and are good for 3 to 4 showers etc etc
It's also £6 a shot more expensive never mind that you need to hand out more of them - that'll chew through the aid donations nice and quickly.

Re: Water saving Shower System
Site not blocked for me!
I think its a good idea, but as another fellow prepper pointed out already that it does not have a handle to hang it anywhere.
But its no use to me, its takes lots of water to wash my very long hair, so a litre wouldn't do the job. I do have two solar showers that work very well so i will stick with them.

So, we've got Holomon whos a Nay and Featherstick is an Aye.
Anyone dropped a fiver (£10 gets you both the 'tap' and the 'shower' heads) and bought one ??
For me the jury is out until somebody can give me these answers:
Can you have a good shower, while only using 1 minute of flow time ?
How many times can wash your hands with a flowing litre of water both with and without the 'tap' head ? (Running water is the best way to wash your hands)
How many of these to make up the same weight as an average solar shower ?
They seem to have no moving parts, is this true?

Re: Water saving Shower System
A submariners 'dhoby' is 30 seconds of water on, off water and soap up then 30 seconds to wash it all off. Admittedly thats not using a bottle hanging from a tree or whatever but its very do-able with even a fairly low pressure shower. Its very 'workmanlike' and you don't get the luxury of spending time enjoying the experience but it keeps you clean.ForgeCorvus wrote:So, we've got Holomon whos a Nay and Featherstick is an Aye.
