Not your usual prepper i suspect

Post by Alloneword »

G'day all.

All1 here, I came acroos this place by googling "UK preppers forum" and low and behold here i am

I suspect my situation differs from most of you, i'm not worried about the end of the world or Bruce Willis coming over to save the word IMO the world is screwed anyway ;)

My problem is to do with flooding, you see i live next door to the River Thames and i'm below sea (ok river) level, so when it goes (sooner rather then later i suspect) i am in deep you know what and yes it will be up to my neck in it.

I have made some plans but very very early stages, so want to move my situation on a bit and make better plans hence coming here for some advice, I will make a fuller post later today explaining my situation, what i have thought of, and what i have planned in the right forum later in the meantime i'm off to be it's 1.40am and i have to be up about 7.

nite nite

All1
Please bear in mind i am prepping for the River Thames to flood and how i can get to safe ground, I'm not worried about the end of the world..... I'll die with the other Minions.
I can't trust Govt or local Council to help me so i have to help myself.

Hi All1 (I like the abbreviation :) )

Actually, you *are* a typical member, you *might* be happy to hear  Bruce Willis types tend to join and then leave quite quickly ... this is lots of sensible people, who also like a laff, who prep for economic downturn, plus floods, storms, loss of electricity (I had 4 powercuts in the first year I moved to my current location), house fires, that sort of thing.

The odd time-travelling dinosaur in the Thames too, of course, courtesy of Dr Who

Welcome :)

Thanks for the welcome Arz, oh well i might fit in then, I know when i have spoken to most people about this they seem to think 1) it won't happen or 2) the Govt & Southwark council have plans and funding in place  there may be plans but that is about it, and i suspect those plans will be found wanting.

Hello All1

Yeah the Bruce Willis types, zombie slayers and nut jobs don't tend to last long here, we're all too sensible and boring for them.

Welcome.

Hi All1

You will fit in fine.
I think quite a few are at risk of flooding!
I remember about 10 years ago living in Sunny Donny being inches away from being flooded out!

I lived in York for a few year and well that place speaks for itself, so you have my sympathy. I'm sure we will all offer up some clever tips and assistance with your prepping

Regards

In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Robert Frost.

Covid 19: After that level of weirdness ,any situation is certainly possible.

Aye...A lot more fearsome than Bruce Willis and Rick Grimes put together. :D
