For those who don't know, I founded the UK Slingbow Archers Association in 2013. I am a big fan of the slingbow and have been for at least 4 years since seeing them on youtube being used for hunting in the US.
They are a very versatile piece of kit and if designed right can be used in both the arrow shooting configuration and for shooting ball ammo as you would a catapult
The pictures of the ones I make are as below
Does anyone else have one or practice with one and would you consider it a good addition to your BOB for a SHTF situation.
For legal reasons I must ensure that everyone is aware it is currently illegal to hunt any animal with an arrow under the Wildlife and Countryside act 1981 as amended. Please make sure any reference of hunting discussion is confined to the slingshot only use with ball ammo or a SHTF situation

I've seen these on Youtube and thought they looked like fun. If I had somewhere to shoot one without attracting attention I'd probably have a go. How much do they cost mate ?

I'm not selling them on here pal as my previous topic got removed as no sales are allowed on the site. Do you feel one in the BOB would be good for a SHTF situation?

I've seen these before, more compact than a conventional bow, though arrows are just as bulky.
Does it shoot something?... Yes
Is it going to be fun?.....Alright I want one
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

I wouldn't know how useful they would be but they do look fun. I don't really do the whole 'BOB' thing, if I had to I could probably put a few bags together but I don't have one prepped. It really would depend on what you're bugging out from whether it would be useful or not. I've PM'd you back by the way.
Silent, re-usable ammo, easy materials to find and remake broken parts, compact and a good pass time. Very good item for an SHTF, cant go wrong with it (unless you miss).

very nice , ball bearing ammo is the way forward . and busy garage will have lots of em laying around the floor , i know ours does .
every wheel bearing that gets replaced can give you 16/20 from each casing .
arrows i should imagine can be made ,like everything else .does the pull lenth on the catapult determin the lenth of the arrows you need , as in long arms long arrows .
YES i walked away mid sentence , you were boring me to death and my survival instincts kick in .

The band length is what generally determines the length of pull. Believe it or not there is a science to each band types elasticity at 100%, 150%, 175% of its length which also correlates to the energy imparted.
I'm 6'2" and using a 32" arrow with mine just so I can get a solid draw and release. It really is individual to the person using the Slingbow.
As for accuracy as a Slingbow, 20 yards is the probably on the uppermost limit of arrow on arrow accuracy where as a slingshot 35 yards is good.
