Looks good. Ive been toying with the idea of making one out of my Cobra sling......
I notice you use a plastic half moon arrow guide, what advantage/disadvantage would a whisper biscuit make instead, (they are expensive)?
What is the paracord system on the 'draw' end for?
Would i have to modify (cut down) the cobra elastic tubing for the correct draw with 30inch arrows?
Slingbow as a good addition to BOB for SHTF?
Re: Slingbow as a good addition to BOB for SHTF?
It's a Talon arrow rest. It affords a better field of view when aiming down your arrow than with a whisker biscuit.QUAID wrote:Looks good. Ive been toying with the idea of making one out of my Cobra sling......

The paracord is twofold. Firstly it offers a point to knock the arrow onto as you would with a normal bow string. Secondly the tied knot allows you to grip and draw the bands back with the arrow in place.
You wouldn't have to modified the band length on a standard cobra slingshot.

Thanks...
I might give it a go and do some testing of my own. It's a good alternative to a hunting/defence system in a SHTF scenario.

Yes I have . Believe it or not this was one of the first videos I ever saw that started my interest in slingbows. I attempted to make one and it worked okay but it is always going to be sub par compared to an item made specifically for the task. Dave Cantebury now offers kits himself but the cost and shipping from the US rules it out for UK/Europe users.

Assuming compliance with all local laws, etc., what sort of animal would you expect to hunt with it in a SHTF scenario?dannytsg wrote: would you consider it a good addition to your BOB for a SHTF situation.

Talking theoretically and only in a scenario whereby SHTF renders locals laws useless:BaseOne wrote:Assuming compliance with all local laws, etc., what sort of animal would you expect to hunt with it in a SHTF scenario?dannytsg wrote: would you consider it a good addition to your BOB for a SHTF situation.
The slingbow would be capable of taking game up to and including roe deer. I have seen videos on Youtube of American hunters suing them to even take game such as grizzly bears/black bears etc so they are very capable tools and comparable to a modern bow in most short range hunting applications i'd say.
Obviously within the UK the biggest game you are going to encounter is a deer of some sort and I am convinced that a slingbow would be more than capable of dispatching such game efficiently and ethically
