Travel/holiday/EDC belt review

Post by fapplan »

After reviewing a few items that I bought in case of a power cut and receiving some positive responses I thought I'd share my opinion on something else that I bought a couple of months back:

It's a men's black leather stash belt and the one I bought can be found at http://goo.gl/2U1xCa

I originally bought this for my holiday as I didn't want to buy a traditional money belt due to the fact that I think that some thieves and muggers would probably expect holidaymakers to carry those, so I decided to go with something a little bit more 'stealth'.

I've had my one for just over 2 months now and I am very pleased with it. So much so that I wear it almost every day. It looks just like any other standard black leather belt except for the zip along the inside. The zip is fairly long, giving you a reasonably large compartment to store bank notes providing you fold them twice lengthways. The compartment is also quite deep so you can stack notes before you fold them. Unfortunately I'm not rich enough to test the maximum amount of money that it will hold, but as a guide I currently have 5x £10 and 5x £20 in two stacks side by side, and although there is a slight bulge on the inside of the belt, this is not at all noticeable when you're wearing it or if it is around a pair of shorts or trousers.

Overall I'd say this is well worth the money because not only does it provide you with a pretty safe place to store some small items, but it looks and functions just like a proper belt does - and it's about the same price as a standard belt.

thanks for the review, been looking at these, seen a couple of others that I'm looking at too on amazon, both are by lifeventure who are a manufacturer I really rate, these are canvas type belts so for the more casual look.

I can see the leather ones being good if you're in town say and need to carry extra cash for taxi home or something like that...

certainly better than carrying it round in your socks...

fapplan,

Like you, I have had one of these belts for sometime and, also like you, I find it very useful. A good way of storing money in case of an emergency.

Thoroughly recommend.
