Where to start?
Originaly from the northwest, moved to south wales a few years ago. My parents and grandparents were both keen on growing their own food in their gardens. My Grandparents lived through rationing, they made do and mended and could see things in terms of years rather than the short attention spans we have nowadays.
To me being prepared dosent mean planning for a ZA, it means planning for severe weather. Maybe a time when the hole in the wall machines arnet working. Preparing for illness, a time when you cant get to the shops easily. Perhaps a power cut? the sudden or tempoary loss of the 1001 small things that our technology addicted society cant seem to funtion without.

Thanks

I've lived through hard times...divorced 30 quid in the bank to last me till payday...wake up in the morning and £25 has been taken in bank charges...You make that difficult decision "Do I put fuel in the car to get to work, or do I buy food?" (You put £4 of diesil in the car and live off tinned tomatoes and packets of asda supernoodles for five days-I lost 1/2 a stone..put it back on though)
So you say never again.
Never again will I be "That" hungry.
Never again wil I be "That" unprepared.
Never again will I trust my bank.
I'm 43 with a few trades behind me, Done a stint as many things including being a electrician, and as a plumber, even done a stint as a Security Guard-Hated it but hopefully some of the skills I learned then stayed with me.
Practiced Martial Arts as a hobby then graduated to Yoga as I got older.
Cycled as a child then took it up again in my 40's.
So nowadays I prep on a budget, increasing my intrest in Radio both HAM and CB, Physical Fitness, Gardening/Growing my own fruit and veg, And trying to make sense and understand the world around me which if you watch the news seems to be going slighty mad.

Re: Hi
Hello mate, I'm mostly from west Wales but hang around the south from time to time. Hope it all goes well for you!

Re: Hi
Thanks all.
I like living in south wales...having lived in cities and the northwest when I was younger, South Wales has some beutiful scenery its a bit like being on holiday all of the time. But as a place that would 'survive' a large kind of SHTF event i'm well aware of its limitations...The problem with south wales is that something like 80% of the population lives on the M4 corridor, myself included.
West Wales is my ideal destination, a much lower population density and more laid back pace of life. But thats in the future, at the moment I will make do with the best I have.
