I well remember my mum salting down runner beans for the winter when I was a girl, but have only done it a couple of times myself with limited success.
For those of you who do salt beans, what salt do you use and how do you prepare for the table after salting? Blowed if I can remember! Ta.

Re: A Question On Salting Beans.
Use a food safe plastic or glass container. I use table salt. Handful of salt in container, good layer of beans, cover with salt ( use common sense) and layer it like that. Keep it in a cool place. When it comes to using them, soak 'em over night. Then a few rinses inbetween soaks. Done!

Cheers J. If I ever get any runner beans this year I'll have another go.

Re: A Question On Salting Beans.
To be honest runners seem to be struggling this year. Several of my gardening neighbours say the same.

Blackfly abolutely infested them at exactly the wrong time and has knocked them back. I do have a few flowers now, but I'm not expecting much. I'll leave them in as I don't need the room so anything is a bonus.
Luckily the French Beans are pulling their weight so we're not without.
