Medical School
Re: Medical School
I hope your medical studies are going well, and most of all you are enjoying your new direction in career.
Re: Medical School
Actually....
I quit the Psychology degree.
I now have a Diploma in Psychology.... which will look pretty when it is awarded.
However I'm studying Neurosciences at Aberdeen now...well in September.
I did think about the doctor bit, but I would much rather do medical sciences and research.
Still means 2 years of medical science before there is any neuroscience.
Chuffed to bits.

Plan for the worst......but enjoy every minute of it.
Re: Medical School
if everything is going ok I will start my Pharmacy Dispenser training in the next few week. Not as cool as a medical school but I can just do this next to work.

Re: Medical School
Hello All,
A bit of an update. I will be starting medicine next month in London. I am extremely excited and very nervous too!
It will probably be a while before I can update the forum, and even longer before I can offer any kind of useful reflections on what I am learning, but I will always be a prepper, and I am looking forward to being able to share insights and lessons learned, and would welcome any questions you all may have.
Please don't worry (or be offended) though, if I don't have the answers, I won't hesitate to put my hand up and point you in another direction.
Regards,
Winklebury

I'm so excited for you! Heaps of luck. Organise your time, eat and sleep well. Don't burn yourself out. Take care of yourself and don't let the bast&?ds get you down!
Re: Medical School
Congratulations! How long is your course going to take?

Congrats! You're doing a good thingWinklebury wrote:A bit of an update. I will be starting medicine next month in London. I am extremely excited and very nervous too!
Two small bits of advice;
1. Hold fire on buying your text books at first, and work out which ones you absolutely have to buy (it won't be many). Use the library when you can and try and pick out the 3 or 4 that will be the most use to you, as those things are damned expensive and most of them you will only refer to at a glance.
2. Don't buy a cardiology stethoscope, go for the standard med student Littman as it's all you'll need for a long time.
Two mistakes that someone that isn't me made and then regretted almost immediately

Re: Medical School
Good advice! In fact, I just bought a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope for £8 from eBay and they work just as good as the more popular ones. It will definitely get me through my course. Also, most books that you might need are probably available through torrent sites. I've got a catalogue of hundreds of medical books but even though they're on my reading lists I've hardly has reason to look at them.
