Hi Mary
Nice to meet you and welcome!
I think so many people are in denial about a possible collapse or problem of that magnitude. I wonder with ppl I know and love, maybe your hubby, maybe not, if it's a counter constructive defense mechanism due to fear or terror. The acceptance in their mind that anything but the apparent current, relatively appearing to function existence is possible .. And the consequences if it did go 'belly up' are overwhelming and terrifying to many. Their coping mechanism is to totally block it out and deny it as a realistic possibility.
As things devolve and get crazier day by day as they appear to be to me, then I think people won't be able to deny reality much longer. Let's hope that doesn't happen too late for those who aren't fortunate enough to have had someone prepping for them!

Hi Mary, I'm 28 and I'm also cheating on my spouse with preps...

The bag I packed 2 years ago for localised flooding is somehow still there and bit bigger than the last time she checked, as is the daysack in her car :-S.

Few things I started off with were pre canned goods. They're usually on multibuy offers in supermarkets and keep for a fair while. They're really handy in the cupboards and don't feel like too much of a prep to actually use.
