Have a look at this YouTube link. This is an amazing initiative project that takes bikes and turned them into peddle powered machines . Generating electricity independently. The inventors inspiration came from watching the end of suburbia ( what happens when the oil runs out). These inventions are being used in remote rural areas with no electricity and very little resources. This kind of thing may already be known to perppers but I just thought I'd mention it.
Seems like a good way to stay active while bugging in. If you solely interested in power production solar panels would consume a lot less time, i think you can get portable ones as well.
Thanks for your reply, yes solar panels are becoming less expensive and certainly are a lot more portable , if your getting from A to B. If some ones already got a hide out prepped then I could see this concept being very useful. Think the guy said he could peddle for about 30 mins and generate enough energy in a car battery with an AC adaptor to run light and a lap top for the evening . Not bad.
