Hi Folks

I am new to the whole prepping thing so I am hoping to learn as much as I can from you guys.

My reason for starting on this trail is definitely the impending financial catastrophe due to the debt the country has gotten itself into by continuing down the borrowing cheap money policy that all uk parties have been guilty of since the end of the 2nd world war. It is of course a matter for personal opinion as to what you believe will happen when interest rates rise and the UK is unable to pay its debt obligations but my view is they will be coming for peoples savings once this occurs just like they did in Cyprus, but far worse.

The government are already prepping to take our savings, the most recent indication of their preparation was last Friday when In a speech, Andrew Haldane, the Chief Economist of the Bank of England, made the case for negative interest rates as a way to support economic growth. Imagine having a -2% interest rate on your savings. He then went on to discuss the abolition of cash! With everything electronic (Cards only) they will have total control of our money and can pretty much do what they want in the National interest. Apparently Danish government are already close after stating that no stores will need cash tills after January 2016.

Anyway my views are irrelevant and I’m really happy to be joining what looks like a thriving community and hope I can learn enough, to prepare well enough, quickly enough to stand a chance of surviving what I think is going to be a scenario unlike anything we have ever seen.
