I dropped this into the conversation this afternoon with said landlord as he was lamenting his poor choice of insurance. It would appear he is very aware of his liability!

Only now its costing him money.... stable doors bolts and horses spring to mind...

There has recently been amendments to rented houses to include a CO alarm to every room that burns solid fuel

Funnily enough my Wife mentioned the same thing at teatime. It is a good thing. We have had such an alarm for ever it seems.

just beware of a smoke / heat alarm in the loft i did this a few years ago linked into all the others......

in times of rapid temperature changes causes condensation up there to send the alarm into melt down (not what you want at 3am as you search the house in your boxers :oops:

Oh God indeed it was bloody cold up there :o

The smoke alarm was dripping with moisture yanked the battery and it shut up
