Hello from East Scotland

Post by fifer79 »

Hi Everyone.

I'm from Fife and recently started watching and researching info on preppers and people who just want to live off the grid. My wife is not keen on this at all so currently I'm doing small things like starting to put together my own greenhouse from plastic bottles and making plans for other projects. Eventually i will be looking to get some land and building a full off grid home (cabin really).

In my journey i would like to meet, speak, and see what other people have done and would like to put together an online documentary looking at the various aspects of prepping and off grid living.

If anyone in Scotland is interested in having their builds filmed for this please let me know.

I look forward to learning loads from the site :)

Hi there, welcome to the forum. I have approved your post, however it's highly unlikely that you will get any takers for your project. Most 'prepper' documentaries portray us in a less than favourable light, so you can understand why people would be reluctant to get involved. And then there's OPSEC...

Welcome, I'm in Fife myself but as Itsybitsy says, I've no wish to be caught for posterity. There's loads of stuff on here, I've learned masses since joining the forum, good luck with your projects, let us know how you get on with the greenhouse, it sounds interesting.

I'm not sure how many preppers we have in Fife bit i see one already. Where in Fife are you.

It's less of the prepper side I would document and more living off the grid.

I'm at the Dunfermline end of Fife and not off grid although like you I would like to be. I've got solar panels but not at the battery stage yet, Her Maj will be getting a new car before I'm allowed them. :(

I'm in dunfermline area as well. I'm trying to do all the things that is either free or cheap just now and will build later as funds are available. The main plan is the greenhouse and water system for the plants. ive been considering looking into rain water collection and purification for drinking but small steps i think.

A water butt is a cheap and easy start
