Hello, comrades!

Post by astalec »

My name is Alex. I am a proud father of a 3y old boy which seems as interested in mechanics, physics and knives as I am.
I am also a bushcraft enthusiast, and like to be prepared.

Welcome. If you could tell us a little more about your reasons for prepping, that would be great.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Well, one of my personal philosophies is that someone's luck is not the result of a single action, but the awareness generated actions one had taken well before.
Preparation for things that may happen or not may sound silly because of the means prepping is advertised in the media.
In my opinion, prepping has nothing to do with stashing, but with a mindset.

Let me give you a few examples:
If I am driving on the highway, I always have both hands with a proper grip on the steering wheel. If a tire explodes (and it did happen), it won't take me by surprise.
I wont walk or shelter near buildings, especially on a windy day. Even if it is a calm day, I am ready to move away when something falls off.
As a pedestrian waiting for the green light at a street crossing, between myself and the direction the vehicles are coming from there is always something in between (a pole, the semaphore, other careless people)
I always expect any technology to fail for no reason, and prepare accordingly.

Do these things seem reasonable? Yes. Does thinking like this makes me a prepper? Definitely!

I also have a post on prepping waiting moderation in the "How are you preparing" section.
