Hi everyone,
I am new to prepping although I am not new to survival scenarios, as an urban explorer I have seen my fair share of suburban places and living so close to the naval dockyard here in Plymouth I am used to Military presence, what I am not used to is what types of equipment I basically need, I am looking to get the following.
Protection Suit - NBC or similar and Gas Mask.
Lighting I have plenty of thanks to my Urban Exploration outings.
Communications - I am fine here as I am an active radio amateur.
Food - where's best to go ?
If you'd like to send me a message or reply here that would be great, thanks.

Welcome. I used to live in Plymouth and do a fair bit of urban exploration too.

Hi and welcome to the form. I've never heard of urban exploration, what is it?

Welcome aboard, yes I'm in Plymouth too, are you one of the guys who post youtube videos of underground places and the like? I find that stuff fascinating.
You'll appreciate our predicament in this city as to how difficult escaping from the area would be, without a boat because your road options are restricted, we're well off for supermarkets and even prepper gadget type shops thanks to Pull the Trigger in the market, I'm not an apocalypse prepper myself, but do stock food etc simply because getting out to get supplies is the most likely problem for the family should anything throw a spanner in our works, we've been at it long enough now to fall foul of the overstock of things we cannot use in time scenario, so the old store what you eat and eat what you store mind set is the first thing that comes to mind as advice for food stocks, even though the family say they'll eat something practice shows otherwise, that and becoming diabetic has restricted me too, worth bearing in mind that it could be wiser to accept a bit of waste than not stock certain things, and if you can store your stuff so as a logical, easy stock rotation system is workable, then you've started on the right foot, I have limited space and have made it a pain to get at some stuff, my last piece of food advice is to beware value range stuff, by that I mean try it before you go buying a shed load, much of it is passable in an emergency, but if my lot had been honest and said " only in a total SHTF scenario would I consider touching that" then what we would have stocked would have been a little different
Hobbies are important, your's is fascinating, and I would be keen to learn if any explored places would be of any practical use/how much work would it take to bring old air raid shelters into a livable condition for instance? When you look at the videos they look damp and pretty unhealthy, but some look really useful too if restored.

I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.
