Thank you guys. Its gonna be a long hard slog. Im only 31 and already have osteo arthritis in my foot, as well as lytic spondulitis in my spine as well as 3 fractures. Gotta somehow get my fitness back and continue with the prepping. Been out today and got a little hexa stove, cotton wool balls, vaseline, wire wool and some batteries.

Keep at it and you will get there, well done for getting sorted as far as you have, that must have been so hard to start from scratch.

I'm a bit annoyed with my own energy levels at the moment - I had a clear day yesterday when I could have done a lot, and it just didn't happen or rather, the only thing I did was to carry on clearing the front border, so I can build up the fertility over the winter and put some useful perennial prepper plants in there. I could only do about 30 minutes tho, doesn't seem enough I'm a bit disappointed.

I've just ordered a micro gas stove which I'm hoping will fit inside my mess tins, although I have a sneaky feeling the smallest gas bottle is a bit taller that the tin. Still it's a heck of a lot smaller than the camping gas stoves I have now.

Canner arrived yesterday, spent the day staring at it in awe took my packs of frozen stock from the freezer and defrosted overnight.

Took the plunge today and after reading the instructions a few times, set everything up and banished the mogsplosh from the kitchen. I now have 6 jars of chicken stock cooling on the counter top! Was terrified the whole time it was being pressure canned but hearing those lids ping after being removed was like music to my ears

Have left them covered up so the jars don't get a shock and break and will leave them alone till tomorrow when I will remove the rings, check the seals, wash and label the jars and put them away. It's a good feeling

Have you looked at the penny stoves? They use rubbing alcohol for fuel and are extremely compact and inexpensive.

The last of my upgrades for bob arrived, a lightweight basha to replace army issue one, from bushcraftusa. Its half the pack size and weight also have a pathfinder school water bottle and mug, have gone for stainless steel so I can boil water in flask direct on camp fire. looking forward to trial run with kit latter this wk.
am looking for best option for tinder... thinking dute twine in wax for survival belt.

Maya dust is pretty good, as is bits of bicycle tyre inner tube. Vaseline soaked cotton wool or even electrical insulting tape.

Cheap £1 shop electrical tape the modern good stuff is self extinguishing as per british standards
