Good afternoon all,
So I was drawn here after reading an article on the beeb (don't judge me too harshly). I feel kinda like I've been on the right track without any real idea of what I was doing or for what purpose I was doing so for a number of years.
Ive always collected useful tools for an unspecified event. Useful clothes and coats for if I ever had to bug out (not that I ever really thought about it in such a term). Don't get me wrong I'm not a nutter with a knife collection and an obsession with came (though I do believe combats to be the greatest trousers invented. Specifically black s95 ripstop type jobbies).
I don't even like camping, but I've acquired a reasonable amount of camping equipment and tools on the kind of "what if" logic.
Recently I started looking into edc style stuff just so I had useful things to hand in case I were out and about and something happened (not got far with that, suggestions welcome!)
So yeah, this seemed like somewhere I wanted to be. To share ideas and read others thoughts.
Long story short. Hi!

Welcome to the forum.
Came from a little push from the BBC article that may have made the likes of us look like nutters. We all had a little something to say about that article
This is the right place to be. A lot of people been doing this a lot longer than myself and great advice is at an abundance here.
Any questions just ask.
Get stuck in.

Yeah, I tend to take all those kind of things with a pinch of salt hahaha! There's always people who may take it to more of an extreme and they're always the ones who get the press attention.Toddie wrote:Welcome to the forum.

I figured that:
A) I kinda started doing this year's ago (albeit much less extreme)
B) if there's an extreme, there's a lot of people working this on a much more subtle scale, just being prepared and that it's pretty logical to be doing that.
I'm hoping to be setting up a bug out bag some time over the next month or two.
I must admit, with my love of military surplus (I tend to think if it's made for use in a warning, it's going to be fairly reliable), I do fear I could end up looking like one of those crazy types lol
