Hello forum. I have been reading for a short while now so thought I would poke my head above the metaphorical parapet.
I am very new to 'prepping' in the sense I have only recently heard the term and investigated it on the internet, but on another level I have been thinking along these lines for a while and without even knowing it on a conscious level I have been researching and partaking in many things that seem to be usual activity for 'preppers'.
I am pretty much self sufficient in terms of vegetable produce and I grow near enough all my family need year round. I have been looking into hunting/fishing much more in depth of late in my surrounding area and beyond. I have a huge distrust of government/the financial system/society as a whole and have a sense that something could go tits up very easily and very quickly. I have been researching lots of things that would be of use should something bad happen, such as how/where to source food/water, stock piling long lasting food stuffs like grains/dried beans etc.
I didn't really think too much about why I was feeling this way or doing these things apart from I thought them the sensible thing to do...then when I read about the concept of prepping it sort of put it into context and was a bit of a eureka moment.
So anyway, excuse the long winded intro. but I hope I can learn a lot from people on here and engage with folk. Thanks for having me.
Beardman.

Re: Newbie in Sheffield
Thanks for the warm welcome.
Re clay pigeon shooting...yup. I grew up in rural Northumberland and as a kid I have used guns a bit. I realise hitting a moving target is harder than it looks. I wouldn't even attempt to kill anything unless I though I was capable of doing it and not just wounding an animal. I done loads of fishing as a kid as well, both sea and fresh water so I guess I'm probably just a bit rusty...about 25 years rusty
