New Prepper From Cornwall

Post by Jinny »

Hi there,
I have read a whole lot of your posts tonight and feel I am amongst similar thinking friends already. I'm not the typically perceived prepper, in as much as I am a middle aged woman with a relatively conformist lifestyle...I paint my nails and highlight my hair to cover the greys, I drink red wine until I fall asleep and I love to knit and crochet too. I am a survivor of cancer, twice, lung cancer and Lymphoma, so I know how it really feels to stare death in the face. No matter, I am every bit as mortal as everyone else here, and I want to make the most of the opportunities I have when times turn a little tougher.
A few years ago, my husband started watching what I considered to be 'doomsday/defeatist/negative outlook' videos on Youtube etc.....my opinion was that he was being so negative and making life look so hopeless. After about 4 years, we had to live apart.....and I started to watch my own choice of videos and slowly started to inform myself about the truths behind the headlines and slowly the message started to sink in. But, I HAD to find out my own truths. Now I feel as if the curtain has been lifted and I see clearly for the first time in a long time.
I have started prepping for a local power outage, also a bad winter which has already been forecast.....it's a step in the right direction at least. My long term thoughts are to prep for a long term Bug In as I live in quite an urban area, although I would very much like to plan an escape to the rural area that my husband currently lives in.
Looking forward to getting to know you all x

Hello and welcome to you. You've certainly been through the mill and happily are through to the other side. Plenty to read on here and so many helpful friendly members too.
