Ignorant Sheeple.

Post by jansman »

Sheeple is not a word I use lightly. However, today I encountered people ( Sheeple ) so ignorant it beggared all belief. Some members here try to convince non preppers of the benefits of being ahead of the game. My advice? FORGET IT!

One of my jobs, I work with two chaps who are so ignorant it is unreal. The cooler temperature sparked a conversation about heating. I mentioned that I have two multi fuel stoves.
They know I grow food and keep animals ( we are butchers for fs!) and cannot, really cannot, understand why I do this. They have no idea that I am a prepper. Probably too thick to have come across such a term

They really, really cannot get their heads around my lifestyle. " don't I have central heating?" " can't you afford the supermarket ?" "Don't you have gas ?"blah blah blah.

I called them a pair of ****s and cut them dead. Suffice to say they are both up to their necks in debt and have a dead end attitude.

Right now, I am sitting in front of my stove and have just read Nick Dutch post about power cuts in January. I rest my case!

I don't even bother know a couple of people who prep and we discuss and share ideas but don't even attempt it at work most can't even keep enough coffee or tea in their lunch bag to satisfy their needs and are always bumming cancer sticks off each other... Let alone prepare their cars for winter et all...

I have tried to get some members of my family to think ahead, wouldn't suggest actual prepping for several reasons but just things like, weather forecast is bad, have you got batteries for the torch and if the power goes off can you make a cup of tea? Some of the replies/reactions beggar belief. I have more or less given up on most of them but will make small suggestions, added into ordinary conversations - but after their next event (like a power cut) maybe they'll see my point then. If they still don't, I'll know it's time to call it a day.

I cannot convey in written word the ignorance shown about burning solid fuel for heating. I NEVER discuss EVER my interest in prepping. I truly think that the bulk of the populace cannot comprehend the idea of being independent from the 'System'.

But but but you have to err fill it with wood and light it... And clean it out. With err my boiler I just flick a switch and my home is warm

The really annoying thing is when it is family that behave like that.

I know damn well that if the power was to go off for anything more than a couple of hours (for example). The O.H. would have me running around lending everyone in the family torches, or whatever may be needed.

This is on top of her threatening to divorce me if I buy another torch....................... Honest love I ordered it ages ago ;)

I so agree aldhelm , it's definitely worse when it's family. Not because it's embarrassing being actually related to a retard but more that thick or thicker you still end up with a pang of morals if you don't help family. It's so much easier to ignore a total stranger.
