tanstaafl opened a thread on Heinnie's special offers - there are some full tang fixed blades on there that are worth considering. I'm tempted.

Ha! So true! I've only recently started sharpening my knife with a stone. It's a cheap one from Fleabay... those Japanese sharpening stones are mighty pricey! So is the quality of the stone as important as the knife??
Re: Fixed Blade Recommendations
I would second that both of mine have cost less than £8 delivered and the blade is good for striking a ferro rod, but that all depends if you need it to do that, but all my knives are carbon steel for that reason.Smudge wrote:Just to be different, Hultafors Heavy Duty is worth every penny of its budget price and then some and imho so is Condor Sapiens although a lil more ££ than Hultafors or Mora it's still a tidy little knife.
Condor also do a very good repro of the Kephart knife, i like mine alot.

if you want something a bit bigger that can double as your camp/carving axe try one of these, for the money i was very impressed, its a thick blade, built like a tank, grab one while they still have them, if i could only take one blade id have this.

Hmm. I didn't get on with my Mora so i got a Condor Bushlore, which is great - decent steel, full tang and real wood!
The mini version makes an excellent necker too,as a side...

Re: Fixed Blade Recommendations
There is a nice looking blade in mora's site for about £6, it's a cub knife or something but I am thinking of chancing it.
