I recently bought a Smith and Wesson tactical pen but when I opened the box I found a California 65 cancer warning slip inside it. Anyone know if this indicates something to be concerned about or are certain authorities overly protective?

Warning slip inside pen case
Re: Warning slip inside pen case
As far as I can see the only potential carcinogen could be aluminium, although I would have thought it'd only be in production of this pen that it's likely to be an issue. I know there's advice not to use aluminium saucepans/cookware, but I honestly can't see you stirring your food with itkernewek wrote:I recently bought a Smith and Wesson tactical pen but when I opened the box I found a California 65 cancer warning slip inside it. Re: Warning slip inside pen case
No real concern. I never heard of anyone falling to pieces or erupting in boils due to ownership of a S&W tactical pen.
California is a strange place. They have so many special laws restricting and controlling every aspect of life that many manufacturers in the U.S. refuse to ship their products to that state.
We even have to make special cars for sale in California due to their individual regional regulations.

I don't know about the pen but most American cars are plastered with stickers warning of something, I suspect it's a legal requirement and means don't eat the pen or something daft. One car had stickers in the door jams warning not to put your hand there and close the door.....

It's the Ink that could contain chemicals that might cause some thing .
Kinda like setting cruise control and programming sat nav then wonder why your car crashed , and successfully winning a compensation claim .

Sounds a bit like the contents of Pop Tarts might be hot after you've put them in the toaster warning.

California is like the EU Commission on steroids with it Risk adverse labeling. American Diet Coca cola used to carry a cancer warning about saccharin , if you fed gallons of it to Rats they apparently got cancer.
