Did my first proper prepping food shop last night :D . Nothing huge, just some basics including rice, pasta, salt, tinned vegetables, fish and soups and some snacks etc. All of it with long shelf lives so it's a start and something I can build on to get a good stock going.

Tomorrow I will be making and canning cranberry with orange jam/sauce. Fresh cranberries are at last in my local shops so canner at the ready. Will also can more mushrooms (they were much nicer than tinned mushrooms, more flavour and not slimey) more carrots and after Sunday roast more chicken stock. Tried a jar I canned already and its so full of flavour.

Also ordered a couple of spare rubber seals and blow out valves for the canner, stocked up on muslin cloths from Wilko as they are the best quality I've found, ordered 18 more ball mason jars and 3 boxes of 12 replacement lids. I'm aiming for 100 jars and 200 boxes of the lids.

Need to get to Aldi for those car FAKs shown in another post.

Tins tins and more tins, beans, soup, tinned tomatoes, filled the cupbards and roatated some of my stock.
A trip to Liddles brought back a 'kenwood' mixer ok its dependent upon electricity but its already made life in the kitchen easier.
And the £1 section of asda veilded some antibacterial handwash for the stores.

Joined this site for one, other than that I'm thinking I need to re-organise my kit bags. I've currently got two large packs, one for me and the other for the missus to carry (She is vaguely aware that I have planned this) But I still need more room for clothings, family sleeping and water.

I've moved into my first home recently so can start building things up at home. I might start planking the loft this weekend in readiness. And I need to find a battery charger for the leisure batteries to give them a top up before I forget and it gets really cold.

Storage of tins ... I finally got to the bottom of the cupboard/recess by the back door. Found some really vile, dank nylon netting and sacks from when I moved in here. Plus some net curtains - not sure why they're in there! But if I can think of a prepping use, I'll keep them. Even to go to teh charity shop, though, they need to be washed. Nice and clean now, and a lot more space to store food. Happy with the work.

Finally got myself a small pressure cooker :) That's gonna make bean cooking a heck of a lot easier.

A wee trip to Go Outdoors for some more sporks for Her Maj resulted in a bottle of Coleman fuel and a couple of extra survival bags for me. I can see us going back through the week to take advantage of an extra 10% off so I'll maybe bag a few more bits and bobs. Apart from that I've got a load of leeks dehydrating and plenty of cheap veg to get done when that's finished. I've been a bit lazy over the last week or two, not just on the prepping front so I need to get my finger out.

Well after the rollocking I've had from you guys regarding my stupidity with my bipolar meds, I've now stopped skipping doses, and I've arranged an appointment with my shrink for a week on Monday. I went out shopping today and got some tinned food and rice, pasta and soups and I got myself a new sleeping bag.

Not stupid, Terry, not at all, but self defeating, even though it was for the best of motives. Shoppiing and sleeping bag are good!
