Picked up one of these last week, not strictly prepping but it serves a dual purpouse and saves space in our tiny kitchen...I wouldnt have paid £50 for it but as they are currently half price its a reasoable price to pay (Hey i'm from the north, i'm the first to admit that i'm 'carefull' with money) The filter seems to work here in south wales, the taste of water from it tastes.....'softer' and it has made a diffrence to the taste when making a Brew.

Argos Kettle/Jug filter
Re: Argos Kettle/Jug filter
We have that exact same kettle.
The Mrs insists on filtering the water for taste reasons.
It's good in the sense that you can fill the tank on the top, switch on the kettle and let the water filter through while the bottom part is starting it's boil cycle.
Wilko do sell their own compatible filter but we found they shape of it always leaves some water in the top tank.
Agree it is a good space saver if you don't want to have a separate water filter.
As for filtering quality, yes it does a great job, not sure in a prepping mode how well it could help. We do still need to clean out some limescale every month or so.
