Living in London and after the Paris sadness, I finally convinced the Mrs to let me put together a GHB for her office.
What was finally agreed that "if" something was to happen she could have 2 choices. As she works near St Pauls Cathedral she is much closer to home that me (I work in Hammersmith) as we live not far from Alexandra Palace.
Choice 1 is to wait for me at her office as I would make a bee line for her before moving onto home (not much of a deviation for me). Choice 2 if she feels she really must go, then make her own way home.
So here is what I put together for her:
1 x plain backpack - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262124798557? ... EBIDX%3AIT
1 x LED AAA torch - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321597589538? ... EBIDX%3AIT
1 x AM/FM AAA radio (quite proud I found this as its cheap, tiny and works well) - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251974586273? ... EBIDX%3AIT
1 x London A to Z (second hand £2)
8 x Long life AAA batts (£2) and batt holders (£1)
1 x poncho - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252084969466? ... EBIDX%3AIT
1 x pair walking boots - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231455273868? ... EBIDX%3AIT
1 x space blanket - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141593698206? ... EBIDX%3AIT
1 x small metal storage tin (£1) - contains - 2m cordage, whistle, lighter, wet wipes, tea light candles, torch (above), credit card utility tool and earphones for the radio (bits and pieces I had to hand already)
2 x 500ml bottled water
1 x simple first aid box (£1)
1 x scarf (£3)
1 x thinsulate beanie hat (£1)
1 x thinsulate gloves (£1)
1 x thick socks (£1)
2 x large thick plastic shopping bags (for some sort of waterproofing/storage).
1 x small hand sanitizer
1 x small mozy spray
Everything has been wrapped in good quality self seal plastic bags for waterproofness.
I know it all looks like cheap and cheerful but my mindset I had to think of weight (not being sexist but she is quite dainty), being non descript (as she needs to leave it in her office and maybe be seen in public), easy to use (again not being sexist but my wife is although quite savvy can self confuse herself when something she wants to use does not work as she would expect it).
So to a degree I think this could do to get her home in a few hours or at worst if she needs to spend the night outside whilst on her way back.
The last hurdle I had to get through was to then convince her to actually take it to the office. "it's too bulky on the tube during rush hour with my other bag!".....steely stare from me with the comment "Well you always travel in rush hour so you need to take it at some point, it's not heavy and the backpack has more than enough room to put your handbag in so you are only carrying 1 item"...she took it this morning
Wish I had weighed it all now but completely forgot.
Can now tick another item of the list
Cheers
