I agree ours do cute but can get uncomfortable, there's one on my lap most of the time when I sit downArzosah wrote: Many a cat will *insist* on lying all over people, and keeping them very warm as a result!
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

Our mog won't sit on anyone's lap, nearest he will go is next to you or at the foot of the bed, he's rather a strange cat to be honest, more dog like but with cat craftiness!

His princessness is the same. He loves to be invloved and loves fusses, but doesn't like laps and hugs. My old cat was the opposite, he was on your lap before your backside connected with the sofaDecaff wrote:Our mog won't sit on anyone's lap, nearest he will go is next to you or at the foot of the bed, he's rather a strange cat to be honest, more dog like but with cat craftiness!

Simple way to get a cat on your knee... put a carrier bag on it
or better still a cardboard box
I managed to cadge a old fluressent emergency industrial bulkhead (it failed in house 3 hour duration testing as it had started to dim but was still lit at the 3 hour mark..)
anyway already had cable entry sorted so put a bit of flex on it through a gland and a plug....
just need a switch to break the battery live......... for the cost of about £3 i have another back up rechageable light which when the power goes off it comes on
and with the added switch enables me to turn it off when i dont need it without taking the cover off to remove the battery

Oh what a pretty puss! How can they look so cute, yet have sharp, prickly bits?
Anyway, back off the feline track............
This isn't very sexy, but an old fashioned wind-up alarm clock can be very useful. Particularly in winter when there is no light from the sun to wake you in time to go to work

When we were considering things that we would need, the two things for most of us is cooking and heating. If we need to move into one room and rely on our own heating and cooking, one fuel supply was essential. I decided to go with bioethanol for both!! We have a Trangia full cook set with fuel burner for cooking and we bought a bioethanol fire for heat. Both work great and a stocked supply (25ltrs) of fuel is a must. Below is the fire we bought, however there are very basic fire boxes that can be bought and they give out really good heat. Our fire will heat up our living room in 10 - 15 minutes and it soon becomes very warm indeed.
