This time of year you won't notice that much difference but after around February you'll see the bills starting to come down, we've had ours 3~4 years now best thing I ever did to the house massive savings

I turned down solar panels recently because I didn't trust the bloke who came to force them on me. You reckon that was a bad move? The deal worked out like a very good ISA the way he explained it.

My logic has been that, with things like the powerwall just around the corner and 40% efficient solar panels already in production, things can only get better. And it's, like, a 15 year investment at the moment isn't it? That's a long time in terms of tech. I'm hoping to just be able to buy a system soon. Owe nothing, just buy upfront and live on self-sufficient power.

I got mine in March, I'm in the central belt in sunny Scotland so not the best situated but I was pleasantly surprised by the 'spring' quarter, 268 quid in subsidies and bills more than halved. 'Summer' was disappointing, about £173 but it was a shocking summer and we're due the 'autumn' quarter now, I'm guessing 50 quid if we're lucky. Still a good investment for us and long term the Tesla/A.N.other batteries are the way ahead although we'll always need the mains in winter.

Its a real shame the subsidy is going, I know its been described as 'middle class subsidy' but long term they're great for the 'user' and its been the successful uptake that's made the government end the subsidy, it seems an easy way for the Gov to help meet their green commitment.

Ours work out at a 5 year investment to get your money back and 15years of profit so in my eyes well worth the money, I'm just outside Liverpool and used these guys

http://www.eco-environments.co.uk

They where superb, I'm a spark by trade so know a little bit about electrical stuff ;) and these guys offered no bullshit sales etc just a breath of fresh air turned up when they said they would and did a good job no link to them other than a satisfied customer. They gave forecast figures on returns etc and to be perfectly honest I doubted it would be so good but over the past 3 years they've been give or take £10-£20 a year spot on. If you've got the cash to do it and aren't going to move in the next 10 years then it's a much better investment than anything else. Our bills gas/Elec where £172 per month (big house) we now pay £101 per month and usually they pay us at least £50 a year back, money back from the panels is usually around Sep-Dec £40 Jan/mar £60 Apr/Jun £230 Jul/Sep £250 so give or take £600 a year. It cost £5k for ours so they'll more than pay for themselves the only thing you need to do is send the readings each quarter no maintence etc, the only reason I say 10 years in the house is because then you've doubled your money. The tesla wall etc would mean that summer months you wouldn't get a bill at all
